The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) made a special website called the 'National Portal for Rooftop Solar. You can do everything online, from sending in your application to getting money for solar projects. You can visit this website at www.solarrooftop.gov.in.
The main goal of the National Solar Portal is to make more people put solar panels on their roofs. This way, we use less electricity from the big power plants. The website also helps with applying for solar panels and tells you about new solar programs and government benefits for using solar energy.
1. You can easily use the national solar website to sign up for government programs that help with solar energy.
2. If you register on the website, you'll get updates about government programs.
3. The website has a tool called the "Solar calculator" that helps you figure out how
much energy your solar panels produce and how much money you can save.
4. Anyone who signs up can use this calculator to do these calculations.

Here are the steps for registering on the National Portal for Rooftop Solar:
1. To register on NP, you'll need the following:
- Your electricity bill
- An active 10-digit mobile number
- An active email ID
- You'll also need to download the SANDES app on your mobile.
2. Start by visiting the registration page of the National Portal.
3. Select your state and the relevant DISCOM (Distribution Company).
4. Enter your consumer account number found on your electricity bill, your mobile number, and your email ID.
5. Once you've entered these details, you'll receive an OTP (One-Time Password) through the SANDES app for mobile number verification.
6. After successfully verifying your mobile number, you'll get an account activation link sent to the provided email ID. This email will also include details about the simplified procedure.
7. Click on the activation link within 24 hours to activate your account.
8. Once you've clicked the activation link, your account will be active, and you'll be redirected to NP to submit your application.

1. In addition to the usual tendering process, MNRE has introduced a simpler way for people to install rooftop solar projects.
2. To get started, beneficiaries must register on the National Portal.
3. Then, they can submit an online application to their local DISCOM (electricity distribution company) to check if it's technically feasible to install solar panels on their rooftop.
4. Once they receive online approval for technical feasibility, beneficiaries can sign an agreement with any vendor registered with the DISCOM.
5. A list of these registered vendors can be found on the National Portal after logging in under the 'Vendors in my area' tab.
6. After signing the agreement, the chosen vendor will install the solar system.
7. Following installation, the beneficiary needs to submit an online project completion report to the DISCOM for inspection and the installation of a net-meter.
8. Once the inspection is successful, and the net-meter is installed, the DISCOM will approve the project completion report on the portal.
9. An online commissioning certificate will be generated.
10. The beneficiary can then request Central Financial Assistance (CFA) by providing their bank details and uploading a copy of a canceled check related to their bank account.
11. The CFA or subsidy will be credited to the beneficiary's bank account within 30 working days if all the information provided in the claim and application is accurate.
1. Vendors who want to register on the National Portal should contact their local DISCOM (electricity distribution company).
2.Vendors need to pay the required Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) amount to the DISCOM for their registration.
3. Once the DISCOM has received all the necessary documents and the PBG amount from the vendor, they will upload the vendor's details onto the National Portal through their own account.
4. Vendors will receive a registration email notification.
5.To log in to the National Portal, vendors can use their PAN number and the mobile number they provided during DISCOM registration.
6.Vendors can then enter their product rates and contact information on the National Portal.
7. The information entered by the vendor will be visible to consumers who are applying to the DISCOM for rooftop solar installations, helping them choose a vendor.
8. It's important to note that vendors should not submit registration fees to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) or approach MNRE for registration under any circumstances.
2. Simply click the link on the homepage to access the calculator.
3. A new page titled "solar rooftop calculator" will appear.
4. On this calculator page, choose from the top menu either the solar panel capacity, your budget, or roof surface area.
5. Next, select your customer type and state.
6. In the last step, enter the typical electricity cost in the provided text box.
7. Click the "calculate" button.
8. The calculator will show you all the details and accurate calculations.
In summary, the National Portal for Rooftop Solar is like a guiding light for a cleaner and greener future. It was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is run by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. This portal helps many people use solar power on their rooftops.
Throughout this blog, we've talked about why this portal is important, what good things it brings, and how it helps people. By using solar power from our rooftops, we can make the environment better, save money on energy, and make our planet healthier.
